The education sector continues to see important developments across schools, with teachers, students and institutions focusing on safety, academic improvement, extracurricular activities and technology-enabled learning.

School Bus Operators Protest in Bathinda

School and college bus operators in Bathinda, Punjab, staged a protest demanding a dedicated transport policy and lower taxes for school buses. Bus operators and drivers from different parts of the state participated in the agitation.

Several private schools in Bathinda and Barnala were affected after operators suspended bus services for the day. The Punjab Unaided Schools Association also extended its support to the protest.

Students Express Gratitude to Teachers

At Seth MR Jaipuria School, Goel Campus, Lucknow, students from Classes 3 to 9 participated in a creative card-making activity ahead of Teachers’ Day.

The activity encouraged students to reflect on the important role teachers play in their learning and personal growth. Students created colourful cards featuring messages, drawings and expressions of appreciation.

The initiative highlighted that the relationship between teachers and students goes beyond academics and is built on trust, encouragement and mutual respect.

Focus on Personal Safety and Digital Awareness

Sant Atulanand Residential Academy in Varanasi organised a Mission Shakti Awareness Programme focusing on personal safety, digital awareness and responsible citizenship.

Students received guidance on emergency assistance, travelling safely, responding to unsafe situations and responsible social-media use. The programme also highlighted the importance of protecting personal information and staying alert in the digital environment.

Competing in the Under-14 Boys’ category, Sarvang won two gold medals in the 100-metre and 200-metre backstroke events and two silver medals in the 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle events.

Government School Records Major Improvement in SSLC Results

Government Sardars High School in Belagavi has achieved a remarkable improvement in its SSLC results.

After recording a pass percentage of 42% in 2024-25, the school reached 89% in the 2025-26 annual examination. This is reportedly the highest result in the school's 176-year history.

Teachers attributed the improvement to closer attendance monitoring, home visits, counselling of students and parents, and daily special classes. Improvements in school infrastructure, including projectors, laboratories, CCTV and classroom intercom systems, have also supported the learning environment.

AI Becomes a Growing Tool for Teachers

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used by teachers to support classroom learning. Educators are using AI tools to create differentiated worksheets with questions focused on critical analysis, reasoning and logic.

Teachers say AI can make some tasks easier, but effective use depends on teachers developing strong prompting and feedback skills.

The discussion also highlights the importance of ensuring that students use AI responsibly rather than relying on it to complete schoolwork. Teachers continue to emphasise original thinking, research and learning.

In another development, government-school teachers in Karnataka have developed an AI-enabled educational website containing learning resources across subjects including Kannada, English, science, mathematics and social science.

A Changing Education Landscape

From improving school performance and encouraging student participation to addressing safety and using emerging technology, these developments show the many priorities shaping education today.

While technology such as AI is opening new possibilities for personalised learning, the role of teachers remains central to helping students develop understanding, creativity, reasoning and responsible learning habits.
